Mr. M. Z. Rehman is a senior finance professional and cooperative
institution builder with over four decades of experience in investment
management, capital markets, and financial advisory services across
Indian and Gulf markets. His career reflects deep expertise in regulated
financial systems, institutional investing, and cooperative finance,
supported by extensive exposure to both domestic and international
markets.
He has been actively involved in Indian listed equity and fixed-income
markets since the early 1980s, with hands-on experience in trading,
portfolio structuring, and risk management. Over the years, he has
advised Indian commercial banks, development financial institutions,
and private and foreign financial institutions in designing and managing
statutory debt investment portfolios in compliance with regulatory
norms prescribed by the Reserve Bank of India.
His advisory work has also extended to Provident Funds, Gratuity Funds, and trustee-managed employee benefit
funds of public and private corporates, focusing on long-term, risk-adjusted returns within statutory and fiduciary
frameworks. Mr. Rehman has held Trading Membership of the National Stock Exchange of India Limited since its
inception in 1994. He possesses strong knowledge and practical experience in capital-guaranteed structured
products, including those offered by international investment and hedge funds, providing him with a balanced
perspective across conservative and structured investment instruments.
He served as the Chairman of Aasra Multi-State Cooperative Credit Society Ltd. from 2009 to 2018, a critical
decade during which the Society expanded its multi-state footprint and strengthened its institutional and
governance foundations. Under his chairmanship, Aasra consolidated its cooperative banking, finance, and
investment activities while reinforcing financial discipline and long-term sustainability.
Following this phase, Mr. Rehman assumed executive responsibility as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and
Cooperative Information Officer (CIO). In this role, he provides overall operational leadership, oversees
regulatory and statutory compliance, guides financial and investment strategy, and ensures robust information
governance and institutional risk management, in alignment with cooperative principles and member interests.
Beyond Aasra, Mr. Rehman is the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of multiple enterprises within the TFS Group,
spanning investment banking, financial inclusion, technology services, healthcare, infrastructure, and crossborder advisory services. He also plays an active role in international trade facilitation as President of the IndoArab Chamber of Commerce & Industries, India, and Director of the Indo-African Chamber of Commerce &
Industries, promoting trade and investment linkages between India, Gulf countries, and Africa.
On the personal front, Mr. Rehman is married to Dr. Hafeeza Rahman, a distinguished medical professional and
Post-Graduate in Nuclear Medicine. A Gold Medalist with eight gold medals from Madras University during her
M.B.B.S. course, she was also the Topper of the D.R.M. program conducted by Tata Memorial Hospital and
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in collaboration with the University of Bombay. She retired as Principal Chief
Medical Director with the Government of India under the Ministry of Railways (IRMS), Mumbai. Their only son,
Mr. M. Tausif Ahmed, holds a full-time MBA from Harvard Business School and is associated with Amazon in the
United States. He graduated with a B.S. (Chemistry) with Summa Cum Laude distinction and was a Dean’s Scholar
at Drexel University and Penn State University, and earlier worked with Deloitte in New York as a Business Analyst.
